A Treatise on Twentieth Century Methods of Breeding And Feeding Live Stock, Including A Digest Of Government And Private Feeding Trials For The Past Two Decades; An Exhaustive Treatise on Diseases of All Live Stock, With A Chapter Devoted Entirely To The Truth on Stock Foods. Illustrations of The World’s Most Famous Animals, Also Plans And Specifications For Farm Buildings, Etc. A virtual encyclopedia! Of course, a major ingredient of the feed formulas is Davis’ Stock Food. It consisted of a mix of herbs, minerals, stimulates, vermifuges, etc., most listed by their scientific name. These were the days when everyone, including your cow, needed "tonics." A country comic tells the story of cows in his youth having "holler tail." This was thought to be a progressive, debilitating disease, the cure for which was to split the cow’s tail and pack it with salt. He says it did revive them right quick, but it didn’t last long. He adds that really the only thing the matter with the poor old cow was that it was slowly starving to death. This selection has a lot of tears, chips and is very fragile, especially the front cover and about the first 15 or 20 pages. All considerably age darkened. 8-1/4" x 11" x 548pp. $48.00
